- 1 loaf of day-old bread, cubed (approximately 10 cups)
- 1 lb ground pork sausage
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 celery stalks, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 2 cups chicken or turkey stock
- 1 teaspoon dried sage
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a large baking dish.
- Spread bread cubes on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 10-15 minutes until lightly golden and crisp. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- In a large skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Remove and set aside.
- Add butter to the skillet. Once melted, sauté onion, celery, and garlic for 3-5 minutes, or until softened. Stir in sage and thyme.
- Combine the sausage mixture with the bread cubes. Pour in the sautéed vegetables and mix to combine.
