Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds beef tips (or stew meat), cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch (optional, for thicker gravy)
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season beef tips with salt and pepper, then add them to the skillet in a single layer. Cook until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
  2. In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté until onion is soft and translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the sliced mushrooms and cook until they release moisture and are lightly browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Pour in beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce. Stir well to combine.
  5. Return the browned beef tips to the skillet. Lower heat, cover, and let simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until beef is tender and the flavors have melded.
  6. For thicker gravy, mix cornstarch with a little cold water to form a slurry, then add to the skillet. Stir until the gravy thickens to your desired consistency.
  7. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley and serve warm over mashed potatoes, rice, or noodles.
